The Virginia Legacy Soccer Club (formerly Williamsburg Soccer Club) is pleased to invite you to participate in the Seventeenth Annual Williamsburg Cup, Labor Day, Soccer Tournament in historic Williamsburg, Virginia. "The Cup", sponsored this year by Busch Gardens Europe, is regarded as one of the finest and most competitive of the fall tournaments in the Mid-Atlantic region, attracting over 250 teams from throughout the East Coast each year. 

Held annually on the Labor Day weekend, the Williamsburg Cup has earned a well-deserved reputation as one of the seasons best kick-off tournaments for its "outstanding fields and excellent high level competition." As always, the tournament's primary goal is to provide an outstanding competitive soccer venue for U-10 through U-19 boys and girls teams. Over the years "The Cup" has grown in popularity because of the outstanding competitive environment and its location in a prime family vacation destination. Tournament participants take full advantage of the summer's last weekend to play great soccer while also experiencing the thrills of Busch Gardens Europe, Colonial Williamsburg, Water Country USA or Jamestown and Yorktown. Parents have also been known to slip ways for a few hours to enjoy 18 holes on one of the areas many superb golf courses.

One of the tournament's highlights each year is the opportunity to see an outstanding collegiate game featuring the College of William and Mary's men's soccer team. This year the Tribe will host Elon College on Saturday night September 1st, at the new Albert/Daly Field.

Eligibility
This is a USYSA/VYSA sanctioned tournament for club and tournament teams. Teams must be USYSA, USSF, FIFA, or US Club Soccer affiliated, in good standing with their state association, and players possess 2007-2008 player passes. Teams affiliated with AYSO, SAY, US Club Soccer or Super Y League are also welcome. National, state or league select teams are not eligible.  A maximum 4 USYSA carded guest players are allowed (U11 teams can have up to 5 guest players). Teams must be USYSA, USSF, FIFA affiliated, in good standing with their state association, and players possess 2007-2008 player passes. Teams will be evaluated on their individual team records.  

Rules
A minimum of 3 games are guaranteed (See Acceptance). All games will be played in accordance with FIFA Laws, except as modified by Tournament Rules. A copy of the tournament rules will be provided in acceptance packets. And are posted on the Tournament Website.

Age Groups
Boys and Girls U-9 through U-19.
U10s and U11s will play 7 v 7
U12s will play 8 v 8
U13s and up will play 11 v 11.

College Soccer
Division I College of William and Mary men's soccer team will play Elon College on Saturday night at W&M's Albert/Daily Field. Game time is 7:00 p.m. FREE game tickets (players only) will be provided to teams staying overnight that have arranged accommodations through Busch Gardens Vacations, the Williamsburg Cup's official housing service.

Registration
Mandatory team registration will be held from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Friday, August 31st, 2007 at the Tournament Headquarters, WISC (Williamsburg Indoor Sports Complex), 5700 Warhill Trail, Williamsburg, VA 23188.  The Williamsburg Indoor Sports Complex is located at Warhill Sports Complex.

The following items are needed for team registration:

  • 2007/08 Certified State/National Team Roster (Original and two copy)

  • Medical release forms for each player (Do not have to be notarized)

  • 2007/08 Player Passes for each player

  • Permission to Travel Form (if necessary)

Permission to travel forms are not required from teams from Region 1, which includes Maryland, PA, etc.  However they are required for teams from Region 2 which includes North Carolina

Teams may not play without having registered under penalty of forfeiture of games and entry fee.

Referees
A USSF three-man referee system will be used to the maximum extent possible for all matches U-12 and up.  USSF Registered referees, who are in good standing and who wish to referee, are encouraged to contact our Referee Assignor, Antonio Arazia at 757-851-4250 or email at PSOAassignor@cox.net 

Hotels - 2007 Hotel Information Has Been Posted
Out of town teams are highly encouraged to book their rooms on the busy Labor Day weekend through Busch Gardens Vacations, the official hotel reservations service the 2007 Williamsburg Cup. Busch Gardens Vacations can be reached at 1-800-880-8861.  Booking rooms through Busch Gardens Vacations helps facilitate all aspects of application, registration and tournament administration and is sincerely appreciated by the tournament. The players of teams that book their rooms through BGV will also receive complimentary tickets to the William & Mary men's soccer game on Saturday night, September 1st, 2007.

 

Awards
Each player on the Championship and Runner-up teams will receive a custom tournament medallion. A team trophy will be presented to the Championship and Runner-up teams. Younger teams are encouraged to participate in a patch or pin exchange at the conclusion of each match.

Medical Releases
In compliance with the USYSA Youth Soccer Tournament/Games Hosting Agreement, it is mandatory that 2007/2008 medical authorizations for each player be presented at Registration and retained at the field by the team. No player may play without a valid medical release under penalty of forfeiture of the game played in.  These medical release forms do not need to be notarized.

Applications must be received by July 27, 2007, accompanied by the entry fee of $600 (US) per U-12 to U-19 team and $500 (US) per U-9 to U-11 teams. Applications received past that date will be placed on a waiting list. FAX applications will not be accepted.

Acceptance
Participation is not final until acceptances are announced on August 3, 2007. Acceptances will be posted on the Tournament Website. Note: No refunds will be made in the event the tournament is cancelled in whole or in part due to inclement weather, adverse field conditions or circumstances beyond the Tournament's control.

Payment
Checks should be made payable to VSLC-Williamsburg Cup. The entry fee is forfeited if a team has been accepted and drops out and sanctions will be placed against the team for participation in future tournaments. Note: A $35 fee will be charged for returned checks. Send applications, fees and correspondence to:
